The Job Role

Business Managers perform a broad range of duties in virtually every sector of the economy.

Management roles
include a wide range of activities from constructing business plans and overseeing staff management, to include secretarial and reception, administration, payroll, conference planning and information and data processing.

First-line managers directly supervise a staff that performs various support services.

Mid-level managers , on the other hand, develop departmental plans, set goals and deadlines, implement procedures to improve productivity and customer service, and define the responsibilities of supervisory-level managers.

Managers must possess strong interpersonal, business, communication and leadership skills.

What to Expect

There are too many different types of managers to be specific. But most are in charge of a department and have power and authority. However, with the position also comes added responsibility for how the department produces.

Managers who enhance their skills such as team building and leadership and also keep up-to-date on workplace law will maintain a competitive edge to progress within their career field.

Managers coordinate and direct support services to organizations as diverse as insurance companies, computer manufacturers, and government offices.

Employment Opportunities:

The field is wide open and you can take your pick. Literally every business in the country needs managers of one type or another.

The manager is needed in all areas of a company to include: information technology, administrative, financial, purchasing and human resources.
