Cyber Attacks Reach New Heights

An IT Security Professional must be prepared to provide IDS monitoring, analysis, and offer incident response to information security alerts events, analyze network traffic and IDS alerts, assess, prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms, launch and track investigations to resolution, compose and send alert notifications, and advise incident responders in the steps to take to investigate and resolve computer security incidents.

If you're thinking this is for you, then you can count on needing security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, Network+, MCITP, CCNA or SSCP, CEH, CPEH. You must be familiar with the tasks done by Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Computer Security Incident Response Center (CSIRC) or a Security Operations Center (SOC). You need experience with Anti-Virus, Intrusion Detection Systems, Firewalls, Active Directory, Vulnerability Assessment tools and other components found in large network environments.

It all starts with certification, education, and a strong desire to work hard. In 2010 there is expected to be an increase in sales of security appliances and client security software. Most solution providers feel it's shaping up to be another good year to be involved in IT security. This means more firewalls and network security, more security hardware, software...and yes that will lead to the number one question on all of our minds ... JOBS!

Not long ago, Google had a trivial attack, one that showed how even companies with sophisticated security systems can be subject to cyber attacks. Their reaction was swift, yet the actual cost to Google is currently immeasurable. What is the cost of loss of service to a company that size? Security is imperative to business success. Staying current with the latest in security means job security. Are you ready? Taking training and certifying in area's like CISSP, Security+, Wireless Security, Computer Forensics, and Windows Security tracks keep you current, validates your commitment, and refreshes your education.

In our security tracks you will learn how to protect your IT network, your data, and your business assets; but you will also learn what to do when things go wrong. There is a correct way to approach the issue and a wrong way. The wrong way may lead you into slippery slopes of legal battles. There is information you need to know on exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to document what happened, how to report and how to ensure you have captured the data correctly to prosecute or deter the attackers.
