Users with Power Users rights on Windows 2000/XP not able
to run training CD
|
Symptoms:
If a user with ’Power User’ rights tries to use a
LearnKey product using Windows 2000 or XP, the user
will get an error saying that they need administrator
rights.
|
Detailed Information:
"Power User" rights in Windows 2000 and Windows XP
do not allow users to make changes to the Registry and
Install software to the Program Files directory. By
following the instructions contained in this article,
users will be able to successfully install and run the
LearnKey training while logged-in as a "Power
User".
|
Solution:
- Log in as someone with Administrator rights to
the local hard drive and install the Learnkey CD to
the default location.
- After the install has
completed, a training window will appear and have
these five fields;
-
First name
- Last name
- User name
- Password
- Verify Password
- Enter the "Power Users" information in the fields and
make sure you can see the training.
- Close the training.
- Download and install the following
file:
Velocity3.0.1.224_Upgrade.exe
- After installing the upgrade you can access the
software by inserting the CD and letting it autorun.
